CDX Vol 606 ~ Country Single Reviews by Chuck Dauphin
I write this as I still stand in shock. The Dallas Cowboys just beat the Seattle Seahawks. Wow. Tony Romo. Fourth Quarter comeback. Life is good in the NFL. And, if you live in Mississippi, your cup runneth over like never before. Two of the top three teams in the nation? Looks like that Egg Bowl might actually be for some marbles, huh? Well, just like the football world is on fire these days, CDX Offensive Coordinator Joe Kelly has put together quite the winning lineup with the release of CDX 606. Who scores the highest? This CDX is one of the most competitive in quite some time, but the “Jewel” of the disc goes to Lady Antebellum, who release a new single in “Freestyle” that, once you hear it, you won’t be able to get it out of your head. It’s fun, fresh, and will be a huge hit for the team of Kelley, Scott, and Haywood. However, there are a few other playmakers on CDX 606, such as…..
“Put My Heart Down” – Sara Evans / OK, It’s time to start playing some more female vocalists out there, and this is a great place to start. Evans has released what might be the best album of her career, and this breezy uptempo track will have you singing along – and rolling down the window to enjoy the Autumn breeze!
“Trouble” – Gloriana / This uptempo tune has an undeniable fire and spirit to it. What guy wouldn’t want a woman like this? Fun and flirty….also hit bound!
“Something In The Water” – Carrie Underwood / First of all, I have to say that I admire her for releasing this track. Many artists might shy away from making such a religious statement. But, it’s also a truly well-written gem that Underwood soars into the heavens with vocally. A beautiful song from one of Country’s most beautiful people – inside as well as out!
And, leading the charge for our “Hidden Gem” title of CDX 606 is Alabama native Markus Fox, who delivers a knockout vocal punch with the stunner “22 Miles From Hell.” The Tide might be slumping in mid-season, but make no mistake about it – Fox is definitely on the fast lane to stardom. I love this guy’s rough-hewn vocal approach. He sounds like nobody else out there today – and he doesn’t need to!
That will wrap it up for this edition, folks. Enjoy the next two weeks of football – as well as the MLB playoffs, and stay tuned to CDX for more huge musical scoring plays!
