It’s September, and already condolences are in order. First of all, to Joe Kelly, the high-ranking official at CDX, it looks like an Ohio State national championship this season is going to be something of an “Urban” legend. And, for me – though the NFL season is set up much differently than that of the NCAA, I don’t think anyone is making any plans to watch the Dallas Cowboys the first Sunday in February. Thankfully, no matter how our teams are doing, we can all agree on music – and CDX 603 has some strong material on it – many of which you’re going to hearing for a while! Let’s take a look…….
The “Jewel” of 603 belongs to Curb Records’ Lee Brice. He follows up his emotional “I Don’t Dance” with the anthemic “Workin’ Class.” It’s the perfect song for the Country demo – and has a Bob Seger influence that you’re going to love! Other top-notch moments on CDX 603 include…..
“Baby Be My Love Song” / Easton Corbin – Mercury’s Corbin knows all about giving radio exactly what they want – and he does so once again on this energetic cut, which is sure to become a favorite!
“Homegrown Honey” / Darius Rucker – 3:25 of fun. Pure and simple. You’ll be singing along with this one, we promise!
“Lonely Eyes” / Chris Young – For the past few years, Young has rolled hit after hit, and I don’t see this one breaking his string of hits. This one is guaranteed to make the female fans swoon. Go ahead and write him in at the top of the chart with this one!
“Neon Light” / Blake Shelton – Sometimes, it’s not about nuclear physics or brain surgery. A song just needs to flow and make you tap your toe. Nobody’s going to mistake this one for “When I Call Your Name,” but that’s not the point. I dare you to forget this melody. Go ahead. Try it!
And, in our “Hidden Gem” of CDX 603, we give the nod to an old friend, Kacey Jones! I love the dramatic and brassy feel of “You’ve Tried The Patience Out Of Me.” Wait a minute, did I say the terms Kacey Jones and ‘Brassy’ in the same paragraph? Yikes…..I guess I did! Well, it fits, and it works!
Well, I’m gonna cheer on those Cowboys again this week against the Titans. Hopefully, they can get ‘er done!
