Country music newcomer Emily Minor is poised to make her mark with the debut of “Funky Feel Good”* –the first single highlighted from her upcoming EP entitled SOMETHING I WAS MISSING
(Crewser Entertainment). Co-written with Kipp Williams and produced by Scott Trayer, the track will be Minor’s first formal, national introduction to country radio and its listeners (impacting on Tuesday, May 19, 2015–CDX Vol. 617-6/1/15).
A modern day “Little Miss Dynamite” with spitfire vocals and personality, Emily presents her “Good Day Sunshine” sentiment and vibe in this carefree summer anthem. Complete with wine in Dixie cups and summertime romance, this sun-up to sundown, toe-tappin’ tune is the perfect recipe for good timin’ fun.
I don’t even care if we don’t make it back home
Trucks have a bed so we can camp here all night long
We’ll watch the moonlight become a sunrise
Two Dixie cups with a bottle of cheap wine…
“I had an image in my head of that quintessential summer night—a bonfire, the boy I love, country music playing in the background—before we even sat down to write,” said Minor. “I wanted to create a song that encompassed all of the things about summertime that we love—a place where listeners can escape from their worries, even if it’s only for three and a half minutes.”
The 4’11” North Carolina native showcased her undeniable talents as a seasoned music entertainer (likened to Miranda Lambert and Jennifer Nettles) before some of the world’s most notable judges as an “American Idol” contestant (Season 7). Minor’s powerhouse voice wowed the judges to earn the golden ticket to “Go To Hollywood” as a Top 50 contestant. Her success on “Idol,” and the explosive feedback she garnered from its global audience, was a game changer. The elementary education grad (East Carolina University/2010) moved to Nashville just two weeks after earning her degree to engage in her music career as a full-time endeavor. She’s since shared stages with Cole Swindell, The Swon Brothers, Parmalee, Confederate Railroad and Craig Wayne Boyd (having played more than 40 dates in 2014 and with 50 shows already on the books for early 2015 canvasing the Southeast). Minor is set to release her EP, SOMETHING I WAS MISSING, this summer.
The “Funky Feel Good” radio promotion campaign will be headed by Jerry Duncan Promotions; the single will be available via all major retail digital outlets on May 19, 2015.
