At a recent Nashville press conference, Dolly Parton excitedly shared news of a brand new ride at Dollywood called The Lightning Rod. The roller coaster will be the fastest wooden coaster in the world, maxing out a speeds of seventy-three miles per hour. The ride is also said to accelerate from zero to forty-five miles per hour and climb more than twenty stories high. After climbing to these heights, riders will drop 165 feet.

The ride, which reportedly cost Dollywood $22,000,000 to craft, is based on a 1950s mechanic, Johnny Rev, who invites Dollywood guests to test drive his new hot rod. While the opening was expected to be some time in the very near future, officials have shared that the launch is delayed with no definite date set.
