Preshias heads up her own business, Nashville Music Line, where she is a consultant to the music industry with particular emphasis on career development for new and aspiring artists and songwriters.
Preshias made the move from her native Kentucky to Nashville in early 1991, starting as an intern to the VP of Publicity at BNA Records. This inspired her to develop her professional goals and build a network of music industry contacts from coast to coast. During this time Preshias began writing on a freelance basis for top country magazines (before the advent of the internet!) interviewing everybody from Alabama to ZZ Top.
As her freelance career climbed, she wrangled on-air celebrity interviews for DJs broadcasting live from Emerald Studios during Fan Fair and CMA Week. From there Preshias crossed over into publicity and handled promotion and media relations for the NY Times bestseller “Chicken Soup for the Country Soul.” This networking led her into the next freelance challenge as an assistant to BMI and Dove award-winning songwriter and producer Randy Boudreaux. Working as an A & R assistant and songplugger, Preshias learned a new aspect of the business. This, in turn, moved her to be a sought-after judge at talent contests, including state and regional levels such as the nationally promoted Texaco Country Showdown.
Recently, her monthly column, “Inside Track on Music Row,” celebrated its seventeenth anniversary of publication in Nashville Music Guide in December 2012. It is the longest continuously running monthly country music column in the USA. The column also appears on top country and music websites throughout USA, Canada and Europe.
In addition to her artist development projects with Nashville Music Line, Preshias teams with Music City Media on special projects for the entertainment industry.
Her career highlights:
Affiliate Coordinator for the syndicated radio show, Power Source Top 20 Countdown. Promotions Coordinator for George Jones University. She was on the creative team for the exclusive Cracker Barrel release for Teddy Gentry’s Best New Nashville. The CD project hit over 600 Cracker Barrels on May 2011. Teddy Gentry is a founding member of the super group Alabama. With her two business partners, Preshias has overseen development of the brand that raises awareness of literacy through the Country Music Edition of the multi-award-winning educational game, You’ve Been Sentenced!
