1. Big dreams don’t mean anything without small goals.
Big dreams can sometimes be paralyzing. They’re so huge that often its hard to know where to start. Just remember that everything you do comes down to the small decisions. Set small goals and conquer them one by one. That’s how you do it.
2. No one is going to do it for you.
Remember that post we wrote at the end of last year, 10 Bad Music Habits to Break in the New Year, well go and read it again! You can’t live vicariously through other people and their success. Remember that noone is going to do it for you. If you want it, you gotta work for it. And that’s about all there is to know.
3. You can’t change the past but you can change the future.
If I could go back in time, I’d keep myself from making my first album. It was so terrible! I’ve also put out a few videos that I hate and played shows that I wish I had never booked. But I can’t change that. I can’t change the fact that I’ve wasted time and money on things that I never should have. I’ve made so many mistakes. But I have learned from those mistakes. Don’t dwell on your past. Get over it and use what you now know to change the future of your career. You’re so much smarter now! Hopefully.
4. The more you know, the more you can do.
Don’t let ignorance paralyze you or stifle your career. There’s so much to learn and once you learn it, you can do so much more with your talents. Finding ways to get rid of your limitations will only benefit you. Read 10 Reasons Why You Should Learn How to Use Photoshop.
5. It’s still all about who you know.
Can you believe this is still true? No matter how good you are and no matter where you live, knowing the right person will be the one thing that makes or breaks your career. Yea there are exceptions to the rule, but it’s still true. This is why nearly every industry places such huge emphasis on the importance and power of networking.
